Other Boards and Programs
There are other Boards made up of appointments from the Regional District Board
that oversee the operations of a variety of interests.
Regional Hospital District
Comprised of the same members as the Regional District Board, they are responsible
for decisions and funding of capital expenditures for the hospital. The Regional
Hospital District funds a 40% share of hospital facility construction and funding
for the purchase of major equipment. Hospital District meetings are held just prior
to the regular meeting of the Regional Board, as necessary. For more information

Sterile Insect Release Program
(SIR)
The SIR program is a
partnership of four
regional districts
providing a service
directed at area wide
management of codling
moth infestation in both
orchard and urban areas.
The service promotes
sustainable agricultural
practices while
protecting air, water
and food quality through
delivery of area wide
enforcement and sterile
insect release resulting
in a reduction in the
need for toxic
organophosphate
pesticides. The Regional
District of Central Okanagan has appointed representation on the
Sterile Insect Release
program Board. For more
information visit the SIR website at
