From time to time the Regional Board may determine a Referendum should be held. 

During the Local Government Elections on Saturday, November 19th, 2011 a Referendum vote was held for qualified electors (Resident and Non-resident) with property within the boundary of the proposed Killiney Community Hall Service Area Establishment Bylaw No. 1294, 2011 including the subdivisions of Westshore, Killiney Beach, La Casa, Valley of the Sun and Fintry. 

They will be asked to respond to the following question:

“Are you in favour of the Regional District of Central Okanagan adopting Bylaw No. 1294 to establish a service area within a portion of Central Okanagan West Electoral Area to operate and maintain the Killiney Community Hall, at an annual cost not to exceed $0.05 per $1000 of assessed value of land and improvements on properties within the service area?”

Voting on this Referendum question will take place at the Killiney Beach Community Hall, 518 Udell Road (Killiney Beach)

General Voting Day, Saturday, November 19th from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Advance Voting - Wednesday, November 9th and Tuesday, November, 15th between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm.

Some qualified electors who are unable to vote on those dates may be eligible to vote by Mail-in Ballot.  Follow this link for Mail in Ballot Information.

Regular voter qualifications for the Central Okanagan West Electoral Area apply in this Referendum for only those property owners within the proposed Service Area.  Follow these links for information on Who Can Vote and How to Vote.

Past Referenda Results

A number of referenda have been previously held in the Regional District.  The most recent was a vote conducted on behalf of the Ministry of Community Services in June 2007 to determine Westside Governance.  Two referenda were held for some voters in the North Westside and Joe Rich areas during the 2005 Local Government Elections, and a Referendum was held in 2003 regarding the expansion of the Mount Boucherie Multiplex.  To view the results from these referenda and other voting, please follow the link to the Past Results webpage
