Mount Boucherie
General Information:
Mount Boucherie Regional Park is 36.4 hectares but currently closed to the public.
Once developed it will include mostly natural areas with trails through the park
and viewpoints overlooking the entire Okanagan valley.
Mount Boucherie is also an interesting study in geology and is best known for its
conspicuous cliffs of black to dark gray crystalline dacite. Dacite is volcanic
rock that forms into spectacular columnar structures. Each column forms hexagonal
geometric shapes, which are formed by contraction during the cooling of the lava.
The process is similar to the formation of mud cracks as a pond dries.
Directions:
Access to the park will be from the Mount Boucherie Multiplex and from Eain Lamont
Community Park at Lakeview Cove Place.
