Program News Release
The program is in response to the results of a comprehensive waste composition study conducted at the Glenmore landfill in 2010. It showed approximately 50% of garbage originating from local businesses, institutions and multi- family developments could have been diverted into an existing recycling program. Since businesses create over half of the waste produced in the Central Okanagan, disposing of your garbage in the most responsible way possible, both environmentally and socially becomes increasingly important.
This section of the website is designed to assist you in bringing your current garbage and recycling programs in line with new waste diversion requirements. The following three-step process will
ensure you are doing everything you can to dispose of your waste properly and avoid incurring unnecessary surcharges.
